health plans to maintain an 85 percent medical cost ratio
FLORIDA Health Insurance : Legislators failed to adopt the most onerous proposals this session, including a bill requiring health plans to maintain an 85 percent medical cost ratio and several pharmacy proposals eliminating generic substitution. The Florida Medical Association proposal requiring health plans to accept assignment of benefits from providers passed, but it may be subject to a constitutional challenge by some plans. Aetna was unable to get passed changes to clarify existing laws pertaining to the dependent age of 30. The legislative session has been extended to May 8 but only to address the budget.
